Film Club

The first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm you can enjoy a film at Duncan and then stay for a group discussion afterward. Friends funds provided for an enhanced projection and sound system for this and other meeting room programs. Walter Gross chairs the Adult Programs, and if you’re interested in helping contact him via duncanlibraryfriends@gmail.com.

“The strength of this short, simple, perfect story of a young woman and her dog is that it does not seem, by the end, to be an idle or a trivial question. What happens to Wendy — and to Lucy — matters a lot, which is to say that ‘Wendy and Lucy,’ for its modesty, matters a lot too.”  A.O. Scott, NY Times

Coming Monday March 26

“mother! is one of the most audacious and flat out bizarre movies that a major studio has released in years.”  Brian Tallerico.  Roger Ebert Website

“Part religious allegory and part self-confessional, the film is a triumph of sustained tension and escalating suspense. ”  Scott Mendelson.  Forbes

“I hesitate to label it the ‘Worst movie of the year’ when ‘Worst movie of the century’ fits it even better.” Rex Reed

” . . . don’t listen to anyone who natters about how intense or disturbing it is; its a hoot.”  A.O. Scott.  NY Times

“an alternate take on biblical history as well as a projection of future biblical-level disasters.”  Steven Zeitchik,  LA Times
